Front and Rear Lean Bars
Thorlabs' Lean Bars are designed to protect all sides of the isolated work surface from accidental contact. Front and rear lean bars are available in two lengths, 2 m (6') or 2.5 m (8'), for attachment to the optical table frame, as shown in the image to the above right. Side lean bears are designed to attach directly to our overhead shelf units, as shown in the photo to the above left. When attached, the three different sized options span across a 1 m (3') wide, 1.2 m (4') wide, or 1.5 m (4.8') wide work surface.
Each lean bar contains a number of Ø17 mm (Ø0.67") through holes along the length of the bar for attaching Ø1.5" post-mounted accessories. The lean bar's width also accommodates shelving and storage accessories, such as our PSY157 Tool Caddy or PSY350 Side Shelf, that attach via a hook. The photo to the far right shows the lean bars being used to mount various accessory options. For a complete list of compatible accessory options, please see the table to the right.
Thorlabs' Lean Bars fit to either the front or rear of the optical table frame to form a barrier that shields the vibration-isolated tabletop and protects it from accidental contact. They also allow shelves and Ø1.5" post-mounted accessories to be used. Individually sold, each lean bar ships as three pieces that need to be assembled by the end user. The lean bar bolts to two supports arms, which in turn are bolted to the table frame, one to each of the facing isolators. All necessary mounting hardware is supplied.

Thorlabs' Side Lean Bars span the entire width of the optical table on the right or left side. They are sold as a package of two to fit one end of the table. These bars bolt to the support struts of the overhead shelf described above and shield the vibration-isolated tabletop from accidental contact.
