Thorlabs' Fixed Optic Mounts for OEM Applications are designed to support a seamless transition from benchtop R&D to high-volume OEM laser system production. All mounts share a unified optical axis height, providing beam path consistency and interchangeability to help simplify prototype layout and production integration. Separate baseplates provide breadboard compatibility for prototyping flexibility and integration into full optical systems during the development phase. The fixed optic height and mechanical footprint allow for direct transfer of mounts into the proven system, with a cavity-ready form factor supporting direct mounting into custom laser system substructures. This overall architecture enables OEM designers to rapidly develop and iterate optical systems on standard breadboards, then deploy those exact assemblies in production environments with no change in alignment geometry, reducing validation requirements and increasing long-term system reliability.

For applications where kinematic adjustment is not needed, these fixed optical mounts provide a solution for securing mirrors or other optical components. These mounts include a built-in mounting flange and maintain a common mounting height across the series, making them ideal for OEM applications. A baseplate providing breadboard compatibility and up to 90° of rotation is available separately. Each part is fabricated from unanodized 6061-T6 aluminum and double vacuum-bagged making them suitable for cleanroom and vacuum chamber applications; vacuum specifications are found in Table 1.1.

Front-Loading or Rear-Loading Fixed Mirror Mounts for OEM Applications (FMM Series)
Thorlabs' FMM series of fixed mirror mounts are available for optic diameters of Ø1/2", Ø1", Ø1.5", or Ø2". Each mount is designed to load optics from either the front or the rear of the mount, with a nylon-tipped setscrew on top of the mount for securing the optic in place. For more permanent mounting, or for use in vacuum environments, three glue ports are included for retaining optics. These mounts feature cutouts in the mounting plane to increase the transmissive clear aperture, particularly when used at 45° angle of incidence, as shown in Figure 1.2. Two through holes on the mounting flange are designed to accept 1/4" (M6) screws for mounting purposes, including one tight-fit clearance hole for use with a shoulder screw of the same size to aid in positioning.

Rotation Baseplate for OEM Fixed Mirror Mounts
The FMB1(/M) rotation baseplate provides compatibility between the FMM series of fixed mirror mounts and standard breadboards and optical tables. Additionally, an included dowel pin adapter allows the baseplate to freely rotate around one of the 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) tapped holes in the breadboard or optical table, for quick and easy angle adjustment. A curved clearance slot provides 90° of available rotation while securing the baseplate using a mounting cap screw. Four 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) tapped mounting holes are included to secure the FMM series of fixed mirror mounts to the baseplate.
