Thorlabs Introduces PC Control Module For XYZ Flexure Systems

Newton, NJ, May 1, 2002 Thorlabs Inc., a leading manufacturer of innovative photonics products, today announced the introduction of a new PC control module for their existing line of XYZ Flexure Systems. The card communicates via a standard RS-232 port with the ability to easily adjust the output drive characteristics of the connected piezo controller. All popular baud rate settings, up to 115200 Kbs, will be available for the RS-232 communication port with 32K of on-board memory for more flexible user-defined functions.

The MDT693-CM PC control module features RS-232 communication with selectable baud rate, 10-bit Piezo voltage monitor, independent output control, and National Instruments executable program with LabView drivers. The board-level card easily plugs into the Piezo Controller with little need for tools. The direct PC interface creates a rich user-friendly environment with easy-to-read controls and fully customizable settings.

Ed Church, an engineer at Thorlabs, said of this new PC control module, "This is an essential tool to automate fine-positioning systems."
