Press Release Detail: Thorlabs Expands Global Presence Newton, New Jersey, March 13, 2011. Thorlabs, a leading manufacturer of photonics equipment, announced today that it is adding a new Brazilian sales office to its worldwide presence: Thorlabs Vendas De Fotônicos Ltda. The new location, expected to open April 2012, will expand the organization’s geographical footprint to include offices in 8 countries on 4 continents. Centrally located in Sao Carlos, the Brazilian “Capital of Technology” in the state of São Paulo, the 200 m2 office space will serve as a South American hub, offering sales support for the region during traditional Brazilian business hours. “This office is a crucial part of our strategy to develop a strong presence in South America,” said Alex Cable, President and CEO of Thorlabs. “Through university visits and our presence at local tradeshows, we look forward to personal interactions that will better inform our understanding of regional needs within the South American photonics community.” About Thorlabs: Thorlabs designs, develops, and manufactures key building blocks for the Photonics industry.
