Thorlabs provides two options for customers who wish to build a 66 mm rail system on top of an optical table or breadboard. The XT66P3 Horizontal Mounting Plate mounts rails parallel to the breadboard surface, while the XT66P1 Vertical Mounting Plate secures a 66 mm or 34 mm rail in a standing position.
Thorlabs offers an extensive selection of accessories for 66 mm rails, including clamps and angle brackets, breadboard mounts, mounting platforms, rail carriages, rail platform positioners, rotation slide platforms, rail joiners, and lens tube adapters. (posted 2024-02-14 05:12:52.66) I need to mount a 66 mm rail vertically on an optical table, but I need more positioning flexibility than XT66P1 allows - the rail won't be directly on top of a bolt hole. Do you have any suggestions for how to accomplish this? Something like the XT95P3 for 95 mm rails, which has alignment slots, would be perfect. Alternatively I could just use a 95 mm rail, but the lack of a cage adapter (equivalent to the RCA1 for 66 mm rails) makes that a challenge. cdolbashian

The XT66P3 Horizontal Mounting Plate allows 66 mm optical rail constructions to be mounted on top of a breadboard or another 1/4"-20 (M6) compatible assembly. The top-located clamp tightens around the rail once it has been slid into its desired position and is secured by two spring-loaded M4 cap screws.
The counterbored slots at the corners of the mounting plate make it easier to align the rail with the tapped hole array on an imperial or metric breadboard.

The XT66P1 Vertical Mounting Plate orients a standard 66 mm or 34 mm rail in the direction orthogonal to the breadboard plane, enabling three-dimensional rail constructions. It bolts to the rail end using the four included M3 cap screws.
The counterbored slots are mechanically compatible with both imperial and metric breadboards.
