Our right-angle cage system adapter plates enable two cage systems to be mounted at 90°. The SP30 plate can connect a 16 mm cage system to a 30 mm cage system, while the CP30 and the CP30Q plates can connect orthogonal segments of a 30 mm cage system. Finally, the LCP30 plate can mount a 30 mm cage system to a 60 mm cage system, and the LCP60 plate can join orthogonal segments of a 60 mm cage system. Each cage plate has mounting holes for six cage rods, which are secured in the plate using 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex setscrews.
We also offer in-line cage system size adapters, and right-angle cage rod construction accessories for 16 mm cage systems and 30 or 60 mm cage systems.

The SP30 Right-Angle Adapter Plate couples an orthogonal 16 mm cage system onto a 30 mm cage system. The front face has four Ø4 mm through holes for SR rods while the sides have two sets of Ø6 mm through holes for ER rods. Each through hole is accompanied by a locking 8-32 setscrew, which can be secured using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key or balldriver. The front face also has an SM05 (0.535"-40) tapped bore for mounting SM05 lens tubes or Ø1/2" optics up to 0.13" (3.3 mm) thick. SM05RR retaining rings are sold separately.
In the photo to the right, a Ø19 mm vapor reference cell is mounted in a GCH25-75 Reference Cell Oven within a 30 mm cage system. The orthogonal 16 mm cage system is mounted using the SP30 adapter plate. A photodetector mounted in this orthogonal cage system can be used to observe fluorescence from a laser beam incident on the vapor in the reference cell.

The CP30 and CP30Q Right-Angle Adapter Plates are designed to couple two orthogonal 30 mm cage system segments. The front face of each adapter has four Ø6 mm blind holes for ER cage rods. On the back face, the CP30 adapter has flexure clamps that can be slid onto two parallel ER cage rods, providing a secure method for long-term attachment. In contrast, the CP30Q adapter features tabs on the back that can be snapped onto an already constructed cage system without the need for disassembly (see image to the left). Each mounting feature has a 5/64" (2 mm) hex setscrew that can be tightened to lock a cage rod in place.
The front face also has an internally SM1 (1.035"-40) threaded thru bore for mounting SM1 lens tubes or Ø1" optics up to 0.24" (6.1 mm) thick when two SM1RR retaining rings (not included) are used.

The LCP60 Right-Angle Adapter Plate can couple two orthogonal 60 mm cage system segments. The front face has four Ø6 mm holes that are 0.35" (8.9 mm) deep for ER rods. Two cage locking setscrews secure ER rods in the holes and can be tightened with a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key. The sides have two sets of Ø6 mm through holes for the 60 mm cage system. Each through hole is accompanied by a locking 3-48 flexure locking screw, which can be secured using a 5/64" (2.0 mm) hex key. The front face also has an SM2 (2.035"-40) tapped bore for mounting SM2 lens tubes or Ø2" optics up to 0.63" (15.9 mm) thick. SM2RR retaining rings are sold separately.
