These cage plate optic mounts are designed to hold optics up to Ø20 mm in our extensive line of 16 mm cage system and 30 mm cage system assemblies. We offer 16 mm and 30 mm cage plate options for holding unmounted optics, as well as 30 mm cage plate options for holding premounted optics, such as aspheric and achromatic lenses. Each 16 mm and 30 mm cage plate designed for unmounted optics includes two retaining rings, which are used in combination to secure the optic in place. The 30 mm cage plates designed for premounted optics have internal threads used to secure the externally threaded cell that houses the optic. For more details on compatible optics, please see below.

The Two Included Retaining Rings Secure the Unmounted Optic (Shown: SP12 Cage Plate and AL108 Aspheric Lens)
These cage plates have internal threads and are designed for mounting optics that have diameters from 5 mm up to 12 mm, such as our unmounted aspheric and achromatic lenses, into a 16 mm cage system. Two retaining rings of the appropriate size are included with each cage plate and are used to secure the optic. The SPW801 spanner wrench is recommended when threading the retaining rings into place. Each plate features four corner-located, Ø4 mm through-holes with a center-to-center spacing of 16 mm. These holes are machined for a precision slip fit with mating cage rods and provide side-accessible locking 4-40 setscrews, which can be secured to a cage rod using a 0.05" hex key. In addition, four 3-48 cap screws (not included) can be used to bolt the cage plate onto the SC6W six-way cage cube.
Thorlabs also offers internally threaded, post-mountable fixed mounts , which are not cage compatible, for mounting optics from Ø5 mm to Ø4".

CPM08 Used to Mount an AC080-020-A Unmounted Ø8 mm Achromatic Doublet in a 30 mm Cage System with a KCB1 Mount
These cage plates are designed for mounting optics that have diameters up to 20 mm, such as our unmounted aspheric and achromatic lenses, into a 30 mm cage system. They have M5.5, M6.5, M8.5, M9.5, M15.5, 0.750"-40, or M20.5 internal threads and include two retaining rings of the appropriate size to secure the optic. The SPW801 spanner wrench is recommended when threading the retaining rings into place. Each cage rod through hole is accompanied by a side-located locking setscrew, which can be secured to a cage rod using a 5/64" (2 mm) hex key (CPN18 only) or 0.05" (1.3 mm) hex key (CPMxx cage plates).
Thorlabs also offers internally threaded, post-mountable fixed mounts, which are not cage compatible, for mounting optics from Ø5 mm to Ø4".
These cage plates are ideal for mounting aspheric or small achromatic lenses in a 30 mm cage system without the use of adapters. They are available with M6, M8, M9, M10, or M12 internal threads. The cage plates with M12 internal threads are ideal for mounting our singlet and triplet fiber collimators with external M12 x 0.5 threading. Each cage rod through hole is accompanied by a side-located locking setscrew, which can be secured to a cage rod using a 5/64" or 0.05" hex key (see the table below).
Alternatively, aspheric lenses can be mounted within a cage system using our aspheric lens adapters and a standard SM1-threaded cage plate.
