This Fabry-Perot, high-powered laser, the FPL1054C has a typical center wavelength of 1625 nm, which is in the eye-safe wavelength range where the cornea and lens absorb the light before it can reach the sensitive retina. The FPL1054C can be used in CW or pulsed operations and is a chip on submount configuration.
The FPL1054C is manufactured by Thorlabs Quantum Electronics (TQE); this Fabry-Perot laser is based on quantum well epitaxial layer growth and a highly reliable ridge waveguide. They intrinsically offer high slope efficiency, which is the relationship between output power and drive current.
