Features
Laser and Microscope Sit Side By Side, Increasing Laser Stability
Reduced Vibration From Connecting Cables
Modular Design Allows for Customization of Your Work Space
Range of Adaptable Accessories Available
This Multiphoton Microscopy solution combines our active, self-leveling ScienceDesk frame with either our 1/4"-20 or M6 tapped PerformancePlus series work surface (optical breadboard). The large, 5' x 6' (1500 mm x 1800 mm) work surface area is ideal for multiphoton applications, as it allows sufficient room for both the laser and microscope to sit on the table top, thereby assisting laser stability and preventing vibrations from being transmitted through the cables.
The ScienceDesk frame melds function and form to produce a portable, industry-leading vibration-isolation platform. ScienceDesk frames feature a durable welded steel construction; a variety of accessories (shelving, monitor mounts, etc.) is also available. The work surface is inset in the ScienceDesk frame so that it is protected from accidental contact.
The active ScienceDesk frame utilizes four compact vibration isolators with a transmissibility ratio of 0.04 at 10 Hz, which is the highest level of isolation available in this line of portable, ergonomic ScienceDesk workstations. The active isolation system requires that a constant source of pressurized air (such as that provided by our PTA511 air compressor) be supplied to the pneumatic isolators. The system will adjust the pressure in each isolator to keep the optical breadboard surface level, even when the distribution of weight on the optical breadboard is changed.

Active-Air, Anti-Vibration Frame 97% Damping of Vibrations @ 10 Hz
Isolators Require an External Source of Compressed Air
Easy to Relocate with Optional Casters
Welded Steel Frame (No Assembly Required)
Load Capacity: 1540 lbs (700 kg)
Active ScienceDesk™ frames provide the highest level of isolation available in this line of compact, portable, and ergonomic workstations. These frames are frequently used for imaging applications with sub-micron resolution. The pneumatic isolators in the active ScienceDesk require a constant source of pressurized air. See the Frame tab for information. In addition, this isolation system will adjust the pressure in each isolator to keep the optical tabletop surface level even when the distribution of weight on the optical tabletop is changed.
Locking Mechanism Prevents Unintentional Movement Max Load: 320 kg (704 lbs) (set of four)
Our Casters come in a set of four and attach to the bottom of a ScienceDesk frame to convert the ScienceDesk into a mobile workstation. Once the ScienceDesk is in your desired location, feet can be lowered on each leg of the frame to provide a stable work environment. The Casters feature a locking mechanism to prevent inadvertent movement when the frame's feet are not lowered. If Casters are ordered at the same time as a ScienceDesk, they will be fitted to the frame before shipment.
300 mm x 278 mm (11.8" x 10.9") and 300 mm x 500 mm (11.8" x 19.7") Shelf Sizes
Max Load: 20 kg (44 lbs)
PSY191 and PSY192 Include 750 mm (29.5") Post
PSY191/S and PSY192/S can be Fitted Without Removing Post
The post of the instrument shelf assembly mounts to the upper rails (excluding the front rail) of the ScienceDesk bases. The PSY191 shelf unit measures 300 mm x 278 mm (11.8" x 10.9") while the PSY192 measures 300 mm x 500 mm (11.8" x 19.7"). If more shelf space is required, the PSY191/S and PSY192/S additional shelf units can be mounted to the same post. The split-clamp design allows the shelf to be fitted anywhere on the post without removing the existing shelf.
A ScienceDesk Fitted with a PSY212 and PSY202/S
Overhead Shelf (PSY211 and PSY212)
900 mm and 1200 mm Wide
300 mm (11.8") Shelf Depth
Max Load: 50 kg (110 lbs
Two 750 mm (29.5") High Posts Included
These Overhead Shelves are supported by two 750 mm (29.5") high posts (included). The shelf slides along the posts to set the height above the working surface. As seen in the image to the right, two shelves can be mounted on a single set of supporting posts. To purchase an additional shelf (support posts not included), select a PSY201/S or PSY202/S additional shelf to go with the PSY211 or PSY212 unit.
Keeps Arms Elevated Above Tabletop
Padded for Comfort
The ergonomic Wrist Rest, designed to provide the optimum height and angle for adjusting nanopositioning stages, enables operators to perform delicate instrument adjustments with higher accuracy and lower fatigue. The Wrist Rest is adjustable and mounts to the upper front bar of the ScienceDesk frame. The padded portion of the Wrist Rest is molded foam to provide extra comfort for the user. The Wrist Rest comes complete with mounting studs and locking bolts.
Compatible with 75 mm x 75 mm and 100 mm x 100 mm VESA Patterns
Mounts to a Ø1.5" Post (Not Included)
The PSY121 flat screen support bracket is compatible with 75 mm x 75 mm and 100 mm x 100 mm VESA mounting patterns. These mounting patterns are typically used on small to medium LCD displays. It has articulated arms which allow for more flexible positioning.
A Ø1.5" post must be used with these mounts and is not included. An acceptable post is our PSY160 (below). A post from an Overhead Shelf or Instrument Shelf may also be used.
Articulating Arm Keyboard and Mouse Holder Includes Wrist Rest Attaches to ScienceDesk Frame
The frame-mounted Keyboard Holder is suitable for most keyboards and mouse pads. It fixes to the side rails and provides 360° horizontal positioning and vertical adjustment
Length: 750 mm (29.5") and 1000 mm (39.4") Ideal for Monitor Mount or P-Post Accessories M16 Bolt Attaches to Outside Rails of ScienceDesk
These posts are available in lengths of 750 mm or 1000 mm (29.5" and 39.4") and are compatible with our monitor mounts. Note that 750 mm long posts are included with the Overhead and Instrument Shelves.
The TA2 Post Adapter allows a Ø1.5" ScienceDesk post to be fitted to an optical table or breadboard. With this adapter, post-mounted ScienceDesk accessories such as monitor mounts, keyboard rests, and shelves can compliment nearly any standard breadboard or table, increasing usable workspace.
The adapter features elongated slots and is supplied with a replacement post stud, together with M6 and 1/4"-20 bolts to fit to either metric or imperial work surfaces. Two adapters are necessary to attach the two posts required for fitting an overhead shelf unit. The adapter is fitted to the ScienceDesk posts via an M16 counterbore.
Delivery Pressure up to 8 Bar (116 PSI)
Air Tank Size 4 Liters
Two Voltage Options: 220 V @ 50 Hz or 115 V @ 60 Hz
Integral Pressure Regulator and Filter
Low Noise Operation: 40 dB at 1 m
The PTA512, PTA513, and PTA514 are high-performance air compressors designed for applications demanding the highest quality air supply. They are self contained, lightweight, and compact, with minimal vibrations due to the very low noise emitted (40 dB at 1 m) from the compressor. The oil-lubricated pump unit is fitted with piston rings, thereby eliminating oil carryover to the air supply. These compressors deliver 50% more air than other silent compressors.
They accept standard 6 mm outer diameter tubing, include an air regulator, filter, receiver tank with pressure gauge, safety valve, drain, and line pressure gauge. They are shipped with a power cord for the appropriate territory.
