Solarization-Resistant Multimode Optical Fiber, 0.22 NA

Features

Our 0.22 NA Solarization-Resistant, Multimode fiber exhibits impressive performance and transmission from the UV to the NIR (180 to 1150 nm). With exceptional UV radiation resistance compared to standard fibers, these multimode fibers are ideal for use in applications such as spectroscopy for pollution analysis and chemical processing, UV photolithography, and medical diagnostics. The polyimide buffer allows this fiber to be used at temperatures up to 300 °C.

Because of the polyimide buffer, it is not possible to mechanically strip these fibers. Please contact tech support for assistance.

High transmission efficiency is mentioned over the range from 400 to 2400 nm, but no numbers seem to be available in the presentation, can you please provide data out to 2.6 um. Ideally in the form of a downloadable file.

Response from Buki at Thorlabs: Thank you for your feedback. When adding a connector to the UM22-100 fiber, we do not remove the buffer. The epoxy we use, F123, is the same we use for our standard patch cables and the procedure we use is the same as that outlined in our guide to connectorization and polishing of optical fibers, FN96A, linked below. http://www.thorlabs.com/thorProduct.cfm?partNumber=FN96A Please contact TechSupport@thorlabs.com if you have any questions.

Can this fiber be connectorized without removing the PI jacket? If so, what type of epoxy/polishing technique do you recommend? Thanks, Tom

Response from Javier at Thorlabs to mzubko: Thank you very much for contacting us. The prices posted on the web for these fibers correspond to the cost per meter of the fiber. The underscored volume price hyperlink opens up a small window with the unit price as well as the different price breaks based on quantity. For example, the price for one meter of the UM22-200 fiber is $13.40. For a quantity of ten meters, the price is $9.05 per meter, and at 50 meters, the price per meter is $7.44.
