Continuous Rotation Mounts

Features

  • Vernier Scale Offers a Resolution of 10 arcmin
  • 360° Continuous Motion Provided by Fine Pitch Worm Gear
  • Backlash Free
  • Application Tested to 25 lbs Vertical Load
  • Designed for Mounting MS1 and T12 Series Translation Stages (Using the CR1A Adapter Plate)
  • Compatible with PM3/PM4 Prism Mounting Hardware (See Below)

The CR1 rotation stage includes a fine pitch worm gear that provides high precision and backlash-free rotation achieved by the worm gear driven design. Rotation is actuated via a polished stainless steel adjuster knob located on the side of the unit. The rotating platform contains an array of 8-32 (M4), 6-32, and 4-40 tapped holes for general mounting requirements. Two radially shaped 1/4" (M6) slots machined in the base provide flexibility when fastening to an optical table.

The easy-to-read radial scale is marked in 2º increments and labeled every 10º. A side-located vernier scale improves resolution to 10 arcmin. The added ability to stack some of our translation stages on the rotation platform, and its 25 lbs capacity, make this stage useful in any laboratory.

Smart Pack

  • Minimize CO2 Footprint
  • Reduce Non-Recyclable Packing Materials
  • Improve Packaging Integrity
  • Saves on Shipping Costs

Thorlabs' Green Initiative is aimed at reducing waste. To that end, we have begun to re-engineer our product packaging. The CR1 is now shipped in re-engineered packaging that minimizes the use of non-recyclable materials.

Over the course of a year, the re-engineered packaging across our product line is projected to reduce our CO2 footprint by more than 16,184 kg and reduce packaging by over 13,893 pounds! As we move through our product line, we will label re-engineered packages with our green Smart Pack sticker (above).

Response from Chris at Thorlabs: If this is due to the fact that the machine drawings for the CR1/M which calls out both 1" and 25 mm for the mounting holes, this is because the base is the same as that of the CR1. The dimension itself is 1", but adequate clearance is allotted to let these be mounted to a 25 mm hole spaced metric breadboard as well. If this is not the issue, please contact us at techsupport@thorlabs.com to discuss the issue.

Response from Tim at Thorlabs: Thank you for contacting us! The design allows for mounting the CR1 upside down with an attached 1kg load without problems.

Could you please let me know whether it is possible to install the CR1 rotation stage upside down? We need something to rotate a mirror with a weight about 1 kg, but we have space to mount the rotation stae only above the mirror.

Response from Buki at Thorlabs to sorr2: Thank you for your feedback. This rotation stage is actuated with an adjuster knob on the side of the unit. The fine pitch worm gear provides 360 degrees of continuous rotation. This stage does not have separate adjusters for course and fine adjustment. The CR1A plate has 1/4"-20 tapped holes. We have contacted you to get more information and see if we can provide you with a product best stuited for your application.

I have a question regarding the rotatry stage CR1. Does the CR1A plate make it a through hole design - If so, what size is the center hole? How do switch from a course to fine adjustment? Do you have a rotary stage like this with a .25" - .375" through hole? Thanks, Stephen M. Orr Senior Mechanical Engineer Acclarent Inc. (650) 687-4936
