 PCU Quantum Efficiency
Thorlabs offers two different photomultiplier tube (PMT) Units for use with the VCM-F Confocal Base System. The PCU2A consists of two broadband, standard-sensitivity PMT modules. The PCUxB series consists of either one (PCU1B) or two (PCU2B) high-sensitivity, low noise PMT modules (see table for details). The dual-PMT units (PCU2A or PCU2B) are ideal for multichannel fluorescence imaging using the VCM-F Confocal Base System, as they can be fully controlled using the ThorVCM software. Each Dual PMT Unit comes standard with three emission filters that can be selected via software control. The user can toggle between a 440/40 and 525/50 bandpass filters or a 525/50 bandpass and 600 nm longpass filter. For other emission filters, please contact us for details and pricing.

Response from Javier at Thorlabs to balaji2007: thank you for your feedback. Below are the noise specifications for the PMTs used in the PCU1A and PCU1B: For the PCU1A: (Anode) Dark Current (after 30 min.) - 2 nA (typical), 10 nA (max.) Ripple Noise (peak to peak) - 0.5 mV For the PCU1B: (Anode) Dark Current (after 30 min.) - 0.4 nA (typical), 1.0 nA (max.) Ripple Noise (peak to peak) - 0.6 mV (See Specs Tab) We do not have quantum efficiency graphs for these, at the moment, but I can send you specification sheets with responsivity curves. I will contact you directly.
