Thorlabs offer several component modules that can be used to mount numerous, precision optical components; these modules can then be easily integrated into a FiberBench or FiberTable system. In each case, the module is designed with two steel dowel pins on its underside that fit into the receiving holes on the FiberBench or FiberTable. Once inserted, the design of the mount ensures that the optic will be at the appropriate height for use within the fiber optic system.
The flexure base has two basic pin mounting orientations: vertical and horizontal. The vertical pin configuration is the most common and is used with all FiberTables except the FT-100X100 and FT-1X6. A vertical pin configuration is defined as having the pins mounted parallel to the rotation adjustment screw. In the horizontal configuration, the pins will be mounted perpendicular to the rotation adjustment screw.
The flexture stages are also seperated by handedness: right or left. The right or left designation will determine the orientation of the cube, plate, or mirror with respect to the rotation adjustment screw and refers to how the beam will be turned. See the sketches and diagrams below for help in selecting a component.
For Mounting a FiberPort to FiberBenches or FiberTables Mounting Screws Included
The HCA3 Series of Wall Plates, along with the FiberPort and a FiberTable, are one of three basic building blocks for any FiberTable or FiberBench system. The wall plates are attached to the sides of a FiberBench or FiberTable (as shown in the main image above) using the two included #8-32 mounting screws. Then the FiberPort can be attached to the HCA3 wall plate (using the four 2-56 screws included). We also offer the HCA3-SM1 Wall Plate that allows mounting of SM1 threaded devices like our PDA Series Photoreceivers (see picture to the right).
Use for Rotating Filters or Polarizers
Accepts Ø6 mm Optics
360° Rotation with 1.5° Precision
Magnetic Knurled Adjuster for Smooth Continuous Rotation
The RCB rotating mount is designed for use with a FiberBench or FiberTable. It holds a Ø6 mm optic, provides a clear aperture of Ø4 mm, and enables rotation of the optic through 360o with a resolution of 1.5o. The photograph to the right shows a polarization controller, which incorporates three of these rotation mounts. By mounting three zero-order wave plates (quarter-wave, half-wave, quarter-wave), it is possible to achieve any desired polarization state since the retarders can be rotated through 360o.
Holds Ø1/2" Optics Up to 1.5 mm Thick
Retaining Ring Included
The FT-SM05 optics mount is designed to hold Ø1/2" optics while also maintaining the appropriate beam height when placed on a FiberBench or FiberTable. It features our standard SM05 thread (0.535"-40)
Use for Beamsplitter Plates and Cubes
Tip, Tilt, and Rotation Stage Adjustments

These flexure bases are designed so that customer-supplied optics can be mounted onto a FiberBench or FiberTable while maintaining the appropriate beam height. The base allows for tip, tilt, and rotational adjustment for precision beam alignment and steering control. In addition, it is available with either a vertical or horizontal pin orientation, thus ensuring that the adjustment screws do not interfere with the beam path. See the Pin Configuration Tab above for more details concerning the two pin orientation options.
This adapter mounts our Free-Space Isolators with an outer diameter of 0.87" to our FiberBench series aligning the optical axis with the isolator. The mount is compatible with all of our FiberBench and FiberTable products.
For Mounting a Mirror Mount to FiberBenches or FiberTables Mounting Screws Included
The FT-MMAC is ideal for mounting one of our mirror mounts to a FiberTable or FiberBench. The FT-MMAC can be used to mount our KS05 (as shown in the picture to the right), a KM05, KMS, or KMSS mirror mounts. Additionally, users can use one of our VH1 v-clamp with this versitile adapter.
The FT-MMAC comes with all the screws necessary to mount it to the table (two #8-32 shoulder screws) and to the mirror mount (one #8-32 and one M4).
The image above shows an FT-MMAC being used to mount a KS05 to a FiberTable in an interferometer application.
Use for Fixed Mounting of Filters, Prisms, or Polarizers
Approximately 1.5 mm from Beam Centerline to Top Surface
The HCB Static Mounting Base allows a user-supplied optic to be secured to the top surface with epoxy and then inserted at the correct height into a FiberBench or FiberTable setup. Once inserted into the receiving holes of the FiberBench or FiberTable, the distance from the top surface of the platform to the point at which the source beam will strike the optic is approximately 1.5 mm. The figure to the right shows a polarizer that has been attached to the HCB base.
Adapter Plate Aligns an EO Modulator in Beam Path 4 Tapped Holes for Mounting the Modulator Alignment Pins for Mounting to any FiberTable or FiberBench over 70 mm Long
The FT-EOMA is a mounting bracket used to mount an EO Modulator onto a FiberTable or FiberBench. The length of the table needs to be at least 70 mm in the direction you wish to mount the modulator. This does not include the optional mount and polarizer (EO-GTH5M). The FiberTable Linear Polarizer modules are better suited for use with an EOM and a FiberTable.
Used for Mounting Filters and Windows
Non-Marring Delrin Construction
Accepts Optics Up to 15 mm Thick
The UCB Universal Component Base is designed to secure a filter or window, while maintaining the appropriate beam height for use in a FiberBench or FiberTable. Optics up to 15 mm thick can be secured into place using two nylon thumbscrews.
