May be Sterilized by ETO or Other Methods
Our 0.37 NA hard polymer-clad fibers offer high numerical apertures to suit a broad range of applications, from remote illumination to photo-dynamic therapy. This high quality fiber offers easy termination with no pistoning effect and is a cost effective alternative to silica/silica fiber.
For many years, Thorlabs offered 3M® multimode and single mode fibers to our customers. In the summer of 2004 we were informed that 3M® was exiting the fiber business. In an effort to keep you, our customers, from being affected by this event we introduced a new line of multimode fibers that very closely mimicked the previous 3M® fibers. These fibers are noted below as our Standard Hard Cladding Multimode Fibers.
Thorlabs stocks the largest selection of single mode and multimode optical fibers in the photonics industry. Simply use the form below to receive a quote on a custom patch cable. Once filling out the quote request, a member of our Technical Support team will e-mail you a quote with a lead time.
Custom patch cables can be shipped the same day they are ordered provided the following criteria* are met:
Order Does Not Exceed 5 Cables
Each Cable Does Not Exceed 20 m in Length
Order is Placed Before 12:00 pm Eastern Standard Time
*Other restrictions may apply. Not available with PCF or PM fibers.

A Response from Erin at Thorlabs: Thank you for your feedback. A table showing alternate step-index fibers with links to the pages has been added to the step-index fiber pages.

You have 4 different collections of step index MM fiber, if i land on a page via a search result it is difficult to access the other 3 groups (or to even know they exist). Please consider adding a table to the Overview tab that would provide easy navigation to the other groups.
Hard Cladding Increases Fiber Strength, Reduces Static Fatigue in Humid Environments, and Protects Fiber During Buffer Stripping
High Numerical Aperture Offers Efficient Light Coupling and Superior Transmission
High Core-To-Clad Bonding Prevents Pistoning and Provides More Stable Crimp-And-Cleave Or Epoxy Terminations
High Concentricity and Core-To-Clad Ratio for Excellent Connection Alignment, Fiber Core Positioning, and High Transmission Bundles
AMS, formerly Innovaquartz Inc(IQinc), now offers 3M's TEQS fiber product line, now known as TEQS. The TEQS hard-clad fibers had become a popular polymer clad fiber. The unique TEQS fluoropolymer cladding is covalently bonded to the silica core, providing higher fiber strength and superior static fatigue performance. TEQS fibers have a relatively high numerical aperture, excellent mechanical properties, and the highest tensile strength of any IQinc fiber or any competitive silica core fiber. These fibers are noted below as TEQS™ Hard Cladding Multimode Fibers.
Fiberguide APCH and SPCH fibers have a standard Hard Cladding. Strong bonding of the hard polymer cladding to the silica core prevents relative movement of these materials in the fiber structure as the ambient temperature changes. This movement is sometimes referred to as "pistoning" and it can cause serious problems at connectors and other types of fiber terminations if not properly dealt with. These fibers are listed below as Standard Hard Cladding Multimode Fibers.
