The Thorlabs free-standing instrumentation shelf provides storage space or further mounting surfaces for instruments, power supplies, and other accessories when a full enclosure is not necessary. Since these shelves are a free-standing unit, the operation of the table's vibration isolation system is not affected. The system is available in two sizes: 2 m (6.5 ft) and 2.5 m (8.2 ft). Simply match the shelf length to the length or width of your optical table. Each system comes complete with two end frames, two adjustable upper shelves made of melamine-faced medium density fiberboard, an adjustable under table shelf, and a power distribution outlet.

The 12-outlet power distribution strip is available in a choice of power supply outlet types. Shelves fitted with a NEMA-type outlet (i.e., PTA261 and PTA271, which are suitable for use in territories such as the USA, Canada, and Japan) are shipped from stock. Shelves fitted with IEC (i.e., PTA262 and PTA272, which have a standard IEC C13/C14 socket), SCHUKO (i.e., PTA263 and PTA273, which have a standard european 2-pin), and BS1363 (i.e., PTA264 and PTA274, which have a standard square 3-pin suitable for use in UK and Ireland) type outlets are built on receipt of order. Note that the IEC power strip is termed “Universal” as it can be used in all regions and is rated for all power-supply values. The actual voltage delivered will depend on the region where the device is used as the power strip plugs into a wall outlet.
