Optical Amplifiers

Thorlabs Quantum Electronics (TQE) is a world leader in the development of InP and Lithium Niobate technologies. Thorlabs is pleased to offer a line of Optical Amplifiers that includes Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs), Booster Optical Amplifiers (BOAs), and a Thulium-Doped Fiber Amplifier developed by strategic partner PicoLuz. A polarization-independent amplifier (i.e., a SOA) is necessary in applications where the input polarization is unknown or fluctuates. For applications where the polarization state is known, a polarization-dependent BOA provides improved gain, noise, bandwidth, and saturation power compared to its SOA counterpart.
